It’s been a while since I referred to my extensive MBTI library. I found out recently, though, that a man I work with is not only a fellow INFP but also a fan of MBTI humor (see example below). Talk about a super-niche.
During the personality-themed reading jag that followed, I stumbled on a list of humorous mnemonic devices for remembering each type. Which led me to a prayer for each type. Which led to type epitaphs.
What these descriptions lack in … uh … scientific rigor, they make up for in concreteness and texture. Even in their silliness, they resonate. Anecdotes may not be able to prove anything, but they can sure help in knowing a thing.
So, without further ado, my humble addition to the sincerely silly MBTI literature:
5 Signs That You Might Be an INFP
- You can readily name two or three things you “almost majored in” in college.
- You have trouble remembering the name of someone you met five minutes ago, but you remember the middle name/ birthday/favorite Star Wars character of the kid you had a crush on in the fourth grade.
- You carry a book light around in your backpack/purse/man bag so you can read while walking from here to there … even after dark. You don’t understand why people find this funny.
- You often ask people if you’ve already told them something, because you’re not sure if you said it or simply thought it.
- Your intimates eventually learn to guess—with astounding accuracy—what you’re talking about when, out of nowhere, you blurt “Yeah, but that doesn’t make any sense.”

Example of MBTI humor, specifically “innie” humor.

Why do I find you so incredibly interesting when I don’t understand what you’re talking about
Because chicanery is my one and only jedi mind trick. Mooahaha
I think that is basically a list of NF traits, not just INFP :)
I am an ENFJ and went down the list… check, check, check….
